Frequently Asked Questions

Does my dog need to be perfectly trained to be able to do a session?

Not at all. I provide a few options to ensure a safe and stress-free session for you and your pup(s). I am happy to offer my recommendations after getting to know you a little better following your inquiry. We will also use your dog's primary motivators and go with the flow, incorporating candid & gently posed photography that doesn't require your dog to always look at the camera or be a perfect model.

I also won't rush a session if the dog is visibly uncomfortable and will be honest with you about what is achievable.

What if my dog has too much energy and won't sit still?

Discussing the best location for your dog's needs is essential. Quite a few humans are pleasantly surprised by what a carefully selected location, a little patience and willingness to follow your dog's cues can do. For some of my photography, your dog doesn’t need to sit perfectly still looking at the camera. Better candids can often be achieved when we allow for some flexibility and movement in the sessions.

Depending on placement & other factors (hands holding the leash in photo that would be awkward if removed, etc), leashes can often be removed through photoshop afterwards. Safety is more important.

Do you photograph other animals besides dogs?

Yes, please! I grew up with dogs and am most familiar with them, but I am truly an animal lover at heart and would love the opportunity to photograph different animals.

Initially, my vision for a career included a zoo keeper to care for lion cubs (I was 4 and SURE this would be my path) before I found photography - so I’m open to any animal request.

What are your location options?

Studio (located in my 1000 sq ft studio space in Bridgeport), outdoor location in & around Chicago, as well as in-home sessions for ailing or terminal pets.

I encourage all of my clients to pick a location not only based on aesthetic, but most importantly, your pet’s personality. Would they be comfortable in that setting? If you’re unsure or have questions, no problem! Feel free to schedule a complimentary planning consultation once your session is booked and we’ll talk through the best options together.

What’s included with my session & each print/heirloom artwork purchase?

Each session includes $100 print credit (+ additional print credit for each rescue animal), as well as a matted 5×7 gift print. To be able to enjoy your portraits also on your phone & personal devices, the corresponding social media resolution digital portrait is included with every print purchased for orders up to $997, and the high resolution digital portrait for orders over $997.

Quality is very important to me. The professional labs I use care as much about your photos as I do. All prints are produced with museum quality paper and a lifetime guarantee against yellowing and fading. If this happens and I’m made aware of the issue, I will replace it at no cost to you.

Beyond standard adjustments to photos, I also include quite a lot of retouching with my compliments for print orders. For example, stray hairs, dry skin on dogs & eye boogers, leash removal, dog hair on clothes, etc. You also receive peace of mind knowing your satisfaction is my top priority.

Do you participate in any special events?

I volunteer and also occasionally receive commissions to work with local animal organizations, photographing events and portraits.

My work is also donated to help raise money for the organizations close to my heart.

If you would like to collaborate for an event or special project, please feel free to reach out.
