ABOUT OUR SILHOUETTE SESSIONS

These sessions are designed to turn the joy and peace found from just being with your dog - grounded and enjoying the outdoors together - into heirloom quality keepsakes.

This limited session is about capturing your dog in a way you’ve never seen them before—fully present, completely themselves, outlined against the most vivid light of the day. Whether they’re sitting quietly, caught mid-bound, or nestled close to you, we’ll create bold, blackened silhouettes that reflect their spirit with honesty and beauty.

As the sun dips low, we’ll capture the quiet beauty of your dog’s silhouette—framed by warmth, sky, and connection.

You’re welcome to step into the frame, too—that’s completely up to you and while not mandatory, it’s often encourage.

What Chicago Pet Parents Are Saying About Sessions with Kimberly

  • Hire Kimberly. Kimberly has been the best photographer I've ever engaged. I have had two photo sessions with Kimberly over the course of a couple of years, and HIGHLY recommend her work. She's an incredibly versatile photographer, very down to earth and easy to be open and comfortable with.

    ~ Corwin C.

  • Kimberly has such a gift for connecting not only with humans, but with pups too. There is no one else I would rather do any kind of photo project with!

    ~ Desi T.

  • Kimberly is a dog lover (like me) which put me at ease immediately. My dog was quite comfortable in her presence and she captured some beautiful moments for me, both of him alone and us together.

    ~ Greta G.

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • No problem at all—most of the dogs I photograph are on leash for the entire session (though you wouldn’t be able to tell since we provide retouching magic for ordered portraits)!

Safety always comes first, and I work in a way that ensures your dog stays secure while still capturing natural, connected portraits you’ll love.

Whether your dog is a flight risk, still in training, or just more comfortable staying close—we’ll make it work. The goal is always to capture your dog being themselves and the love you share… not perfect obedience or off-leash tricks.

  • While I have plenty of experience—and patience—with a wide range of dog personalities, from rambunctious to reactive, it’s important to know that Silhouette Sunset Sessions are held in public spaces where we’re likely to encounter off-leash dogs, people, joggers, bikes, and more. These sessions are shorter and move at a slightly quicker pace, which may not be ideal for every pup.

Your dog’s safety and comfort are always my top priority—but you know your dog best. If you feel your dog may struggle with distractions, unpredictability, or a busy environment, I highly recommend booking a standard session instead. These sessions allow us to work more slowly and choose quieter locations tailored to your dog’s comfort level.

If you’re unsure or have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to guide you toward the best session experience for your dog. You are your dog’s best advocate, and I’m here to support that every step of the way.

  • We all know weather can be unpredictable, especially in the Midwest. Sometimes we get bold, dramatic color… other times, it’s soft and subtle.

Whatever the sky decides to give us, I’ll use lighting, location, and post-processing to bring out the beauty and emotion of the moment. And of course, if it’s raining or the weather isn’t safe, we’ll simply reschedule to the rain date.

The magic is always there—we just have to meet it where it is.

  • Of course not—but I highly encourage you to jump in for at least a few. (You won’t regret it—I promise.) Since silhouette portraits are entirely blackened, no details of your face or outfit will be visible, so there’s zero pressure to “look photogenic.”

You’ll simply be a beautiful shape beside your dog, and I’ll guide you with natural prompts and easy interactions that feel relaxed—not posed. No stiffness, no awkwardness—just a moment of connection you’ll be so glad you captured.

  • While there are plenty of ways to enjoy your images, Limited Edition Sessions are all about helping you create one show-stopping piece—a bold, beautiful reminder of the love you share. Think a gorgeous framed fine art print that turns your walls into a tribute to your best friend.

Many clients also choose to add on heirloom folio boxes or small luxe keepsakes—thoughtful touches that let you relive the magic every day, in your hands and in your home.

  • My job is to create portraits so meaningful, you’ll want to keep every single one—and honestly, that happens often.

Most clients invest in a combination of statement wall art, heirloom folio boxes, and small, meaningful add-ons. With that in mind, you can expect to invest a minimum of $475 after your session. But what you choose is entirely up to you—you’ll only purchase what you absolutely love, and those decisions are made together at your ordering appointment, with no pressure—just possibilities.
